(păl″ĭn-ă-koo′sĭs) [″ + Gr. akouein, hear] The perception of repetitive auditory sensations, sometimes confused with auditory or musical hallucinations. It is usually a symptom of a lesion such as a tumor or a seizure focus in the temporal lobe of the brain.
