Adskaia Pochta

Adskaia Pochta

(Hell’s Mail), a satirical monthly magazine published in Petersburg in 1769 by F. A. Emin. Six issues were published. The journal exposed, in the form of a correspondence between two devils, the swindles of clerks, the inhuman treatment of serfs by their landlords, and the vices of the clergy. Its sharp polemic with the periodical Vsiakaia vsiachina (All Sorts of Things),which was directed by Catherine II, led to the closing of Adskaia pochta.
