释义 | Robards, Jason, Jr.Robards, Jason, Jr.(1922– ) stage/movie actor; born in Chicago. Son of a once-famous stage and movie actor, Jason Robards Sr. (1892–1963), he served seven years in the U.S. Navy, survived the attack on Pearl Harbor, and was awarded the Navy Cross. He came to New York City and supported himself by taxidriving and teaching while gaining experience in television dramas, radio soap operas, and bit parts in plays. He gained public and critical acclaim as a stage actor in Eugene O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh (1956) and Long Day's Journey Into Night (1957), and would continue to create a number of distinguished roles on stage over the next four decades. He made his film debut in The Journey (1959) and would also portray a series of outstanding characters in many movies, winning Oscars as best supporting actor in All the President's Men (1976) and Julia (1977). |
