Location:On US 61 in East Feliciana Parish, 14 miles north of Baton Rouge.
Facilities:Museum, observation towers, outdoor displays, walking trails (6 miles), picnic area, visitor center, restrooms.
Activities:Guided tours, living history demonstrations, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Site includes original Civil War earthworks used by Confederate forcesduring the 1863 siege of Port Hudson by Union forces, a pivotal battlefor control of the Mississippi River. The siege lasted 48 days and isbelieved to be the longest in American military history. The site is aNational Historic Landmark.
