Palmer dental nomenclature Pal·mer den·tal no·men·cla·ture (pahl'mĕr den'tăl nō'mĕn-klā-chŭr) 1. A system of identifying permanent teeth by the use of a number indicating the sequential position of a tooth distally from the midline; the number is bracketed with a right angle to identify the tooth's dental quadrant. 2. A system for deciduous teeth analogous to the permanent tooth with letters substituted for numbers (A through E or a through e).
