Tabyn-Bogdo-Ola

a mountain massif in the southeastern Altai, bordering on the USSR, the Mongolian People’s Republic, and China. The northern slopes fall steeply to the Ukok Plateau, east of which lies the Sailiugem Range; to the southeast is the Mongolian Altai, and to the west, the Southern Altai. The Tabyn-Bogdo-Ola is composed of schists and granites. The highest peak is Mount Nairamdal (4,356 m). There are 36 glaciers, with a total area of 160 sq km, the largest of which are Potanin (20 km) and Przheval’skii (12 km). At the foot of the massif there are thickets of dwarf birch, which higher up change to alpine meadows, mountain tundras, and rock streams. Larch forests grow in the Kobdo and Manas river valleys of the southern slope.
