Stupino

a city (until 1938, a settlement) under oblast jurisdiction and administrative center of Stupino Raion, Moscow Oblast, RSFSR. Railroad station 99 km south of Moscow and 9 km from Kashira. Population, 63,000 (1975). Stupino has a metallurgical combine and plants for the production of fiber glass, cellular concrete, and cardboard. Educational institutions include a branch of the Moscow Institute of Aviation Technology and a medical school.
