Teploelektroproekt
(full name, All-Union Planning Institute of the Ministry of Power Engineering and Electrification of the USSR), an institute founded in Moscow in 1924.
Teploelektroproekt deals with problems of the long-range development of thermal power engineering in the USSR. It produces plans and feasibility studies for the construction of large thermal and atomic power plants and heating networks, as well as technical specifications for new types of power-plant equipment and networks for heat supply to industrial regions, cities, and other population centers. It also develops standards and methodological materials. The institute has divisions in Moscow, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, Gorky, Tomsk, Tashkent, Kiev, Kharkov, L’vov, Rostov, and Riga. It also has planning and surveying divisions, laboratories, and experimental centers. Large power installations have been built and are under construction in several foreign countries using Teploelektroproekt plans. The institute publishes Trudy Teploelektroproekta (Transactions of Teploelektroproekt). It was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1962 and the Order of the October Revolution in 1974.
