PAN2

A gene on chromosome 12q13.2 that encodes a member of the C19 peptidase family, a deadenylase that belongs to the Pan nuclease complex, playing a role in cytoplasmic mRNA decay by shortening poly(A) tails of RNA when the poly(A) stretch is bound by polyadenylate-binding protein. PAN2 interacts with PAN3 and shuttles between nucleus and cytoplasm.
