Robin, Leo

(1895–1984) lyricist; born in Pittsburgh, Pa. He studied dramatics in college and was a reporter before writing lyrics for the Broadway musical, Hit the Deck (1927). In 1928 he moved to Hollywood where for three decades he wrote songs for over 100 films with such composers as Jerome Kern and Harold Arlen. With Jule Styne he collaborated on the musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1949) and the television special Ruggles of Red Gap (1954).
