position lights

Colored lights on aircraft used at night to show the direction the aircraft is moving. A red light is installed on the port (left) wing tip, a green light on the star-board (right) wing tip, and a white light on the tail of the aircraft. The red and green lights are visible from an angle of 110° as viewed from the front, while the white light located at the tail is visible 70° each side of the rear center line. The same as navigation lights. See aircraft external lights.
