Trepkowski, Tadeusz

 

Born Jan. 1,1914, in Warsaw; died there Dec. 30, 1954. Polish graphic artist and poster designer; one of the founders of modern Polish poster art.

Until 1934, Trepkowski studied at the Polygraphic School and the City School of Decorative Art in Warsaw. He specialized in political posters, especially on antiwar themes, and publicity posters. His works, distinguished by laconic composition, striking symbols, and artistic metaphores, include Grunwald, 1410 –Berlin, 1945 (1945), The Last Stage (1948), and No! (1952).
