Threading Head

Threading Head

a device for cutting external or internal thread by means of lathes, drills, and other metalcutting machines. Four threading dies or four cutters are usually mounted in radial slots in the body of a threading head. Threading dies in threading heads are mounted so that the threads of one threading die continue in the direction of the threads of the adjacent die. Threading heads generally have automatic mechanisms to withdraw the threading dies when a pass is completed. They may also have threading dies that can be adjusted to the required thread diameter.
