Berlitz, Charles Berlitz, Charles (Frambach)(1914– ) educator, publisher; born in New York City. A graduate of Yale (1936), he took over the family business of intensive language teaching, founded by his grandfather. During World War II, he restored the fortunes of Berlitz Schools of Languages and Berlitz Publications by getting commissions with the armed services. After the war he offered business courses for overseas employees. Himself a gifted linguist, he was the author and editor of many "Self-Teacher Courses," phrase books, dictionaries, and audio-visual materials. |
