Ulva
Ulva (sea lettuce), a genus of algae of the family Ulvaceae of the order Uvales. The thallus is lamellate, entire, dissected, or branched; it is 30-150 cm long and consists of two tightly enclosed layers of cells. The approximately 20 species are most widely distributed in subtropical and temperate seas. Three species occur in the seas of the USSR. In Japan and some other countries sea lettuce is used as food.
