a source of cosmic radio radiation associated with a star in the Milky Way Galaxy. The sun is a typical normal radio star. All stars radiate in the radio band, although this radiation is usually of low intensity and is extremely difficult to detect because the, stars are so remote. Only radio radiation resulting, for example, from the explosion of red dwarfs or novas or explosions in binary or X-ray stars has been detected. Pulsars are a special group of starlike objects that emit radio waves. In the 1950’s all discrete sources of cosmic radio radiation were referred to as radio stars.
