Panfilov
Panfilov
(until 1942, Dzharkent), a city and administrative center of Panfilov Raion, Taldy-Kurgan Oblast, Kazakh SSR. It is situated on a highway 200 km east of the Saryozek railroad station on the Semipalatinsk-Alma-Ata line. Population, 19,000 (1974). The city has a bread-baking combine and a buildingmaterials plant. Panfilov, which was renamed in honor of I. V. Panfilov, also has a pedagogical school and a museum of local lore.
