Veliugin, Anatolii Stepanovich

 

Born Dec. 27, 1923, in the village of Moshkany, in present-day Senno Raion, Vitebsk Oblast. Byelorussian Soviet poet, first published in 1938.

Veliugin served in the Great Patriotic War and is the author of the collections A Salute in Minsk (1947), The Negarel’skaia Arch (1949), On the Approaches (1952), The Dawn Is Breaking (1958), Wide Open (1960), The Address of Love (1964), Selected Verses and Ballads (1968), the children’s book The Dove on the Tower (1957), and others. He translated the works of M. lu. Lermontov, L. Ukrainka, A. Mickiewicz, J. Tuwim, and others into Byelorussian.
