Velkov, Krum
Born Dec. 16, 1902, in Pernik; died Apr. 18, 1960, in Belovo. Bulgarian writer. Member of the Communist Party of Bulgaria from 1922. A worker’s son.
An active participant in the revolutionary movement, Velkov was subjected to repression on various occasions. His novel The Village of Borovo (1932; Dimitrov Prize, 1949) depicts the heroic struggle of the people under the leadership of the Communists in September 1923. He was the author of the historical novel The Leader (1940) and the novel The Life of Petr Dashev (1946).
