Bermudians

inhabitants of the Bermuda Islands (a colony of Great Britain in the Atlantic Ocean). As of 1966 the population was 50,000. Approximately 60 percent are Negroes, whose ancestors were brought from Africa by British colonizers from the 17th century through the beginning of the 19th century. The remainder are British and American. The official language is English. The majority of religious believers are either Anglicans or Methodists; the Negroes for the most part belong to a special Methodist-Episcopalian Church. The principal economic activity of Bermudians is serving the tourists who come to the Bermuda Islands. Bermudians grow bananas, citrus fruits, and potatoes and other vegetables, as well as flowers, which are exported to the USA.
