Location:Along the Wailua River, off Kuhio Highway (Highway 56); historic sitesand scenic overlooks on Kuamoo Road (Highway 580); and Wailua Falls atend of Maalo Road (Highway 583) from Kapaia.
Facilities:Scenic vistas, cultural sites, marina with dining and gift shop.
Activities:Boat excursions, river fishing, picnicking.
Special Features:Park is set in a lush river valley, with scenic vistas of waterfallsand the Wailua River Valley as well as a riverboat cruise (fee charged)to Fern Grotto, a fern-covered cave situated in a tropical garden. Thisarea was once an important seat of chiefly power in old Hawaii, and thepark contains the remains of places of worship, places of refuge, andbirthstones.
