Postel’naia Kazna

 

(also gosydareva kaznd), the private treasury of Russian rulers from the late 15th to the 17th century. It contained clothing, ornaments, dishware, icons, and other “goods and chattels,” as well as manuscripts and private correspondence. Some documents from the state archives were temporarily kept in the private treasury. The postel’naia kazna was located in the postel’naia chamber of the palace and administered by the postel’nichii.
