Established: 1965.
Location:Southwest Wyoming, 40 miles north of Green River.
Facilities:Visitor center, viewing sites, trail, auto tour route, historic features.
Activities:Fishing, hiking, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:The Oregon and Mormon national historic trails cross the refuge (see entries in national trails section). Segments of these trails, as well as the Pony Express Trail, can still be seen on and adjacent to the refuge.
Habitats: 26,400-acre riparian, wetland, and upland shrub along the Green River.
Access: Open year round, 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset.
Wild life: Rufous hummingbird, Wilson's warbler, yellow warbler, bullock's oriole, bald eagle, trumpeter swans, ruddy ducks, white-faced ibis, redheads, cinnamon teal, moose, mule deer, porcupine, pygmy rabbit, pronghorn, and muskrats.
