Established: 1978.
Location:West-central Mississippi, 10 miles southwest of Yazoo City.
Facilities:Auto tour route.
Activities:Canoeing, fishing hunting.
Special Features:In addition to providing resting and feeding areas for over 100,000 wintering waterfowl annually, the refuge also provides habitat for 200 species of neotropical migratory songbirds.
Habitats: 38,697 acres of bottomland hardwood forests interspersed with numerous wooded sloughs, cypress-tupelo brakes, and bayous.
Access: Year round during daylight hours.
Wild life: Waterfowl and other migratory birds, American alligator, white-tailed deer, swamp rabbit, wild turkey, squirrel, and various small fur-bearers.
