pantometer[pan′täm·əd·ər] (engineering) An instrument that measures all the angles necessary for determining distances and elevations. Pantometer a lightweight angle-measuring instrument, now obsolete. The pantometer was primarily used for topographical surveys of forests and peat bogs that did not require a high degree of precision. |
