Rafikov, Sagid Raufovich

 

Born Apr. 6 (19), 1912, in the village of Kaishevo, now in Diurtiuli Raion, Bashkir ASSR. Soviet chemist. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1962) and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1970).

After graduating from the Kazan Chemical-Technological Institute in 1937, Rafikov worked at various chemical institutes of the academies of sciences of the USSR and the Kazakh SSR. In 1967 he was made chairman of the presidium of the Bashkir branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and the following year he was also made director of the Institute of Chemistry at the Bashkir branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Rafikov’s main works deal with the synthesis of high-molecular-weight compounds (polycondensation, polymerization, chemical transformations) and the study of oxidation and oxidative ammonolysis.

Rafikov was a deputy to the eighth and ninth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He has been awarded three medals.
