posterior cord of brachial plexus pos·te·ri·or cord of brach·i·al plex·us [TA] in the brachial plexus, the bundle of nerve fibers formed by the posterior divisions of the upper, middle, and lower trunks that lies posterior to the axillary artery; it gives rise to the upper and lower subscapular and thoracodorsal nerves and terminates by dividing into the axillary, and radial nerves.
