a launch position or launch system aggregate at a space center: a metal tower for delivering electrical, fuel, drainage, and pneumatic connecting lines to the rocket and for servicing the rocket. The umbilical tower is mounted on the launch system or alongside it and has detachable connecting lines between the rocket and the surface utility lines. The towers have elevators and swinging platforms; they are sometimes up to 100 m tall, and the length of a side of the rectangular base may be up to 20 m.
