Raggee

Raggee

(Eleusine coracana), a plant of the family Graminae. It has a digitate flower cluster, and its multiflorous spikes sit in two close rows on the twigs. Raggee is an important cereal crop in parts of North Africa and India. The grains of raggee are used to make flour, groats, and beer. Raggee is also a pasture and hay crop, but it is grown more often as an annual. The plant is drought-resistant and high-yielding and does not deplete soil nutrients.
