Air Maintenance Unit

in the air force of the USSR, the basic unit of the lower echelon of air logistics. An air maintenance unit is in charge of direct material, technical, and medical maintenance of air units at airfields where they are based. Air maintenance bases, battalions, and companies of air support personnel and the commanders of the air garrisons are attached to the air maintenance unit. The air maintenance unit is composed of units and services that provide required equipment and prescribed stores of necessary supplies.
