[′thrē ¦jəŋk·shən tran′zis·tər] (electronics) A pnpn transistor having three junctions and four regions of alternating conductivity; the emitter connection may be made to the p region at the left, the base connection to the adjacent n region, and the collector connection to the n region at the right, while the remaining p region is allowed to float.
