Paphiopedilum a genus of terrestrial perennial herbs of the family Orchidaceae. The flowers resemble those of lady’s slippers (Cypripedium). There are approximately 50 species, distributed in tropical Asia. Certain species and numerous hybrids are cultivated for cut flowers in greenhouses.
