During a lifetime of adventure and exploration he discovered live quetzals in Honduras (1937–38), studied the fauna of the Galapagos Islands (1936–63), and led expeditions along the Inca Highway (1953–55) and the Royal Persian Road (1973–75). His popular books include Jungle in the Clouds (1940). |
