Seesee

(Ammoperdix griseogularis), also seesee partridge, a bird of the family Phasianidae of the order Galliformes. The seesee is about 25 cm long and weighs 180–210 g. The legs are not spurred. The male has a grayish ochre back and bluish gray cheeks and throat; its sides have black and chestnut stripes. The female is sandy colored with small speckles. The birds dust themselves in clay soil, giving their plumage a reddish cast.

The seesee is distributed in Southwest Asia. In the USSR it is encountered in the foothill regions of southern Middle Asia, in areas with sparse vegetation that becomes dry early in the season. The seesee dwells near bodies of water. It nests from April through July, and a clutch contains eight to 12 yellowish ochre eggs. Seesees feed on seeds, insects, and the vegetative parts of plants.
