Location:3 miles north of Dunnellon on the east side of US 41.
Facilities:Full-facility campground with camp store, recreation hall, showers,restrooms, pool, and playground (located about 6 miles by car from thepark's day use area), picnic area, pavilions, canoe/kayak rental,gardens, trails.
Activities:Camping, canoeing, swimming, tubing, snorkeling, birding, hiking.
Special Features:Rainbow Springs was formerly the site of a privately owned attractionthat lost most of its business when Disney World opened. In the early 1990s volunteers cleared the area and opened it as apark on week-ends, and the Florida Park Service officially opened it asa state park in 1995. The springs are referred to as the headsprings ofthe Rainbow River, which has been designated a National NaturalLandmark and an Outstanding Florida Waterway.
