Parabronchus

Parabronchus

any one of the numerous thin air capillaries in the lung tissue of birds. The parabronchi run parallel to the primary bronchus, from one group of its branches to the other. It is conjectured that in the principal mass of the Para-branchi the air moves in the same direction during both inhalation and exhalation. Gas exchange occurs in the spongy tissue surrounding the capillaries.
