American Academy of Nursing

 (AAN) a working body of nursing leaders and scholars in education, practice, administration, and research. Fellows are elected to membership in the Academy based on their contributions to the nursing profession and health care. The Academy identifies emerging nursing and health care issues, promotes their scholarly exploration, challenges the status quo, and proposes creative solutions.

A·mer·i·can A·cad·e·my of Nurs·ing

(AAN) (ă-mer'i-kăn ă-kad'ĕ-mē nŭrs'ing) A professional group composed of about 1500 nursing leaders who address national and international issues of health care and policy; nursing leaders are selected as Fellows in recognition of their accomplishments within the nursing profession.

American Academy of Nursing

An organization formed by the American Nurses' Association. Membership in this honorary association indicates that the person selected has contributed significantly to nursing. A member is titled Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, abbreviated FAAN.
