Postojna Cavern

 

(also Adelsberg Grotto), a limestone cavern in the Dinaric Karst in Slovenia, Yugoslavia, near the city of Postojna. It forms a complex system of chambers and galleries measuring approximately 23 km in total length. The Postojna Cavern is famous for its beautiful grottoes, stalactites, and stalagmites. The Pivka River flows through the cavern for a distance of 800 m. Postojna Cavern has been declared a national park and is partially equipped with tourist facilities, such as a railroad and electric lighting.
