threshold of audibility
threshold of audibility[′thresh‚hōld əv ‚ȯd·ə′bil·əd·ē] (physiology) The minimum effective sound pressure of a specified signal that is capable of evoking an auditory sensation in a specified fraction of the trials; the threshold may be expressed in decibels relative to 0.0002 microbar (2 × 10-5 pascal) or 1 microbar (0.1 pascal). Also known as threshold of detectability; threshold of hearing. AcronymsSeeTOA |
