Roesen, Severin

(?–1871) painter; born in (?) Cologne, Germany. Trained as a porcelain and enamel painter, he emigrated to America (1848), lived in New York (1850–57), and moved to Williamsport, Pa. (c. 1858–70). He is known for his opulent floral paintings, as seen in Still Life, Flowers and Fruit (1848).
