Terra Andrée

a peninsula in the north part of the island of Vestspitsbergen. The north part of Terra Andrée is a plateau 700 m high; the south has mesas as high as 1,367 m. The peninsula was formed from sandstone and sedimentary slate of the Silurian and Devonian periods. Much of the surface is covered by glaciers. The peninsula was named in honor of S. Andree.
