Dmitrii Mikhailovich Rogachev

Born Nov. 19 (Dec. 1), 1851, in Orel; died Jan. 24 (Feb. 5), 1884.

D. M. Rogachev took part in the organization of the “going to the people” movement and in the movement itself. He conducted revolutionary propaganda in the Volga region in 1874 and 1875. Arrested in St. Petersburg on August 14, 1876, he was sentenced to ten years at hard labor in the Trial of the 193. He died in Siberia at the Kara Penal Colony.

Nikolai Mikhailovich Rogachev

Born Mar. 15 (27), 1856, in Orel; died Oct. 19(22), 1884.

N. M. Rogachev was a member of the central military circle of the People’s Will. In 1881 and 1882 he organized revolutionary officers’ circles in such cities as Helsinki, Moscow, Orel, Smolensk, Vitebsk, Riga, and Vilnius. Rogachev was arrested on Apr. 4, 1883. He was sentenced to death in the Trial of the 14 in September 1884 and was hanged in the Shlissel’burg Fortress.
