post-viral fatigue syndrome

post-viral fatigue syndrome

An ill-defined and controversial disorder more commonly, if erroneously, called MYALGIC ENCEPHALITIS. The condition may follow a virus infection and features severe fatigue, limitation of activity, muscle aching and emotional disturbance. The condition is not caused by brain inflammation as the name implies and there is controversy as to whether it is of organic origin but there is no questioning the distress and disablement of the sufferers. Now often called chronic fatigue syndrome.
