Po·ta·ro P0476100 (pə-tär′ō, pō-) A river, about 160 km (100 mi) long, of central Guyana. It has gold deposits and is known for its Kaieteur Falls.
Potaro
Potaro a river in Guyana, a left tributary of the Essequibo. Measuring approximately 180 km long, the Potaro originates on the Guyana Plateau. When the river flows into the Guyana Lowland, it forms numerous rapids and waterfalls, the largest of which is Kaieteur Fall. Kaieteur National Park is situated in the Potaro River basin. |
