Potassium Bromide Kbr
Potassium Bromide Kbr
a salt; colorless crystals. Density, 2.75 g/cm3; melting point, 748°C. Solubility, 65.6 g per 100 g H2O at 20°C; 105 g at 100°C.
Potassium bromide is obtained by the reaction of aqueous solutions of potash with iron bromide (II, III): 4K2C03 + Fe3Br8 = 8KBr + Fe3O4 + 4C02. Potassium bromide is used in the preparation of sensitized photographic materials and in medicine.
