Potassium Chloride Fertilizer

Potassium Chloride Fertilizer

a concentrated potassium fertilizer. It is a white, crystalline, hygroscopic compound that cakes during storage and dissolves readily in water. The fertilizer contains potassium chloride and various fillers; the potassium content (in terms of K2O) is 52–60 percent. Potassium chloride is used on all soils as a basic fertilizer during autumn plowing and on fields lying fallow. The soil is acidified upon systematic application of the fertilizer. Potassium chloride fertilizer is especially effective when applied to such potassium-loving crops as potatoes, sunflowers, fruits, and root crops.
