Potassium Metabisulfite

 

K2S2O5, a salt of pyrosulfurous acid; density, 2.34 g/cm3. Decomposition occurs upon heating to 190°C. Solubility in water at 20°C, 30.9 percent. Potassium metabisulfite is used in the textile industry for dyeing and cotton printing. It is a component of certain photographic developers and solutions used in photographic fixing.
