Size: Almost 1,800,000 acres.
Location:Surrounds the Rogue Valley in southwestern Oregon. Accessible by I-5, OR 62, 140, and 66. Nearby cities/towns include Ashland, Grants Pass, Klamath Falls, and Medford.
Facilities:73 campgrounds, 10 cabin/lookout rentals, trails (more than 200), boat ramps, scenic drives, interpretive trails, 200 miles of wild and scenic rivers, picnic areas.
Activities:Camping, fishing, canoeing, whitewater rafting, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, ORV riding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling.
Special Features:Upper reaches of the Rogue River in the Cascade Range; Sea stacks, isolated outcrops of rock standing in the ocean. They are remnants of rocky headlands that were eroded by wave action. Gin Lin Trail, which interprets the history of a Chinese emigrant's gold mining operation. Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (see entry in national trails section) runs the entire length of the forest.
