A classification dimension used with Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) for acute medical conditions and physical disorders which may impact on a person’s psyche—e.g., infections, neoplasia, endocrine, nutritional, metabolic and immunity, haematologic, neurologic, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, genitourinary, pregnancy/childbirth, skin, musculoskeletal, connective disorders, congenital anomalies, perinatal problems, ill-defined conditions, injury/poisoning.
