Potato Cleaner

Potato Cleaner

a machine for removing the skins from potatoes and vegetables. In the potato cleaner used at public catering enterprises and at small vegetable-processing plants, the potatoes pass through the loading hopper into the working cylinder, where a rotating disk with a wavy surface coated with silica uses friction to remove the skins from and clean the potatoes. A constant stream of water is fed through a sprayer for better mixing and washing. The skins and water are removed through the outlet tube and the cleaned potatoes are thrown out an aperture in the working cylinder by centrifugal force. The machine uses 0.8–0.9 liters of water per kilogram of potatoes; it can clean up to 400 kg of potatoes an hour. The potato cleaner may also be part of a multipurpose kitchen machine.
